Good morning. This is April 12, 2023. Montgomery Frazier, The Image Guru.
And today I just want to talk about, in an aging population, we have to be our own health advocates for ourselves and for the people we love.
Recently, just in dealing with them, the medical system in America, where we just can’t afford to get sick, So, I have been dealing with the fact that my husband has been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia, and dealing with that is, and the onslaught of what goes with that is debilitating, it’s demoralizing, it’s depressing, and we all have to be advocates for our loved ones when they are afflicted and they are in the hospitable and they cannot fight for themselves.
So, this is my advice for today: take it upon yourself to plan well for the future, financially. And do not leave things to the last minute, because that is the worst thing anyone can do. And then should you have to deal with things immediately or within a year or so, you really need to consult a good attorney for the legal process of transferring assets into pooled trusts for people who have to apply for Medicaid, which is the only way the middle class and the poor can afford health care in this country.
So, that’s my advice for today. I hope it helps. Montgomery Frazier, The Image Guru, April 12, 2020, my birthday.
